Free Spirits, Golden Hearts

Free Spirits, Golden Hearts is a mural I just painted — and it means a lot to me, because this is my first major mural ever.

In my art journey, I’ve always loved going big. I’ve been fortunate to create massive sculptural pieces — from monumental sculptures to carnival floats that danced through city streets. But this… this is the first time I’ve gone this big in painting.

Even though painting is what I studied in school, I never imagined that one day my painting would leave the canvas… and walk up onto a wall — not just any wall, but a massive one. [smiles] It felt like watching a dream I didn’t know I had — finally come alive.

This mural shows a group of high schoolers riding together — golden horses with patches, and blue ones too — galloping forward, bareback, holding the manes. The wind blows through their hair; dust rises beneath them — it’s elegant, powerful, and full of motion.

To me, the gold represents passion, courage, and energy — that fire that drives us to dream. The blue brings calm and balance — that quiet confidence that helps us stay grounded.

As I painted, I realized I wasn’t just painting horses — I was painting motion, freedom, and the spirit of youth. It reminded me that we all have that moment when we need to let go of the saddle and trust the journey.

So when you stand before Free Spirits, Golden Hearts, I hope you feel the energy, the dust, the heartbeat — because this mural isn’t just on a wall. It’s a piece of my journey, and a reminder to keep moving forward with a free spirit and a golden heart.”
