Flying Loom
Two sculptures joining a loom frame to an early aeroplane · Lagos, 2020–2021
Flying Loom is a pair of sculptures that join two forms: the frame of a loom and the body of an early aeroplane. The loom carries weaving, craft and heritage, the patient work of many hands. The aeroplane carries flight, travel and arrival.
Adeodunfa designed the two sculptures for Terminal 2 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria, and they were fabricated in 2020–2021. The installation at the airport was never completed. The photographs on this page follow the build as the frames and propellers took shape.
